WorkSafe Article- Adventure and Outdoor Recreation Activities – Managing the Risks from Natural Hazards
As operators of amusement devices, our activities often take place in environments where natural hazards—such as flooding, landslips, and extreme weather events—can pose serious risks to participants and workers.
While this guidance is primarily directed at Adventure and Outdoor operators, we too have a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act (2015) to identify, prevent, and mitigate risks associated with natural hazards that may impact our operations.
To support operators in managing these risks effectively, WorkSafe New Zealand has developed comprehensive guidelines outlining best practices for hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency preparedness.
